I love this idea and hope it proves fruitful for universities and for students.
A story on CNN Money tells how Clarkson University is giving scholarships to students with a good business or invention idea. Listening the to story on the radio show Marketplace, they describe how a university in California has considered a tuition plan where students do not pay while attending school but rather pay 5% of their salary for 20 years. Now this specific idea may have many problems, but I like the concept that a university will only get paid if their students are able to get a job after graduation.
The radio program Here and Now had an interesting conversation on how students are choosing more secure majors, like engineering and technology, and fewer people are studying humanities. The effect on universities will be dramatic if this is a long term shift.
