A couple of different discussions this weekend, and a few subliminal hints from Mother Nature or whomever may be controlling the universe, lead me to finally realize how I identify culturally and by nationality. Race is a funny thing to define and I don’t think there is a common view on distinguishing race. Plus, who knows what we really are with all the cheating that seems to be part of Human Nature.
Because my last name is Czech but I have very little Czech blood, I mostly have German blood, but very few traits, my relatives as far back as I ever met were born in the U.S.A. in Texas and California and a few other locations, I don’t even know the stories of my family members immigrating to the U.S.A., I grew up in California and identify with the following characteristics:
- Wanting to do stuff outdoors and enjoy nature
- Wanting to preserve nature and this home we call Earth
- Enjoying the company of my neighbors and socializing with people in public
- Wanting to protect the middle class and help the common person
- Being fascinated by Celebrities and the Rich and Famous
- Being blond (when I get enough sunshine)
- Being interested in many cultures and languages
- Learning a bit of Spanish and how to cook Mexican style food
- I work hard and have earned my own everything: first car, college degree, my first job, hopefully a house one of these days
So because of all of those reasons, I can say the only thing I really feel like is a California Girl. I love the Beach Boys song and the Katy Perry song and I’m proud to be Californian.
His wife, finally fed up with her husband shouts back,
“Anytime you’re ready, Father of Four!”
